ASA with carbon fibre through it — built for large outdoor parts that have to stay dimensionally true. You keep ASA's UV and weather resistance, and gain a large jump in stiffness and a matte, low-glare finish.

The natural use is big, flat, load-bearing outdoor geometry: drone and RC bodies, antenna mounts, enclosure panels, jigs that live in a workshop yard.

Not for the AMS Lite — though it runs in the AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT. It also needs an enclosed printer with a 45–60°C chamber and a hardened steel nozzle — 0.6mm is recommended, 0.2mm is not supported, and the 0.4mm high-flow nozzle is not advised.

What changes against plain ASA

Stiffness nearly doubles. Young's modulus goes from 2450 to 4200 MPa and bending stiffness from 1920 to 3740 MPa. This is the stiffest material in our Bambu range. A large flat panel that would bow in plain ASA stays flat in ASA-CF — which is the whole reason it exists.

Heat resistance goes up again. Heat deflection reaches 102°C at 1.8 MPa, against ASA's 92°C.

Impact resistance falls sharply. From 41.0 to 14.0 kJ/m² — roughly a third. As with every fibre-filled material, rigidity is bought with brittleness. Don't choose it for something that gets dropped.

Also worth noting: unlike plain ASA, ASA-CF is resistant to most oils and greases, which makes it the better pick for anything near machinery.

Printing it well

Glue is required. Textured or Smooth PEI with glue; the Cool Plate SuperTack is not compatible.

Layer direction is critical here. Bending stiffness collapses from 3740 MPa in plane to 1350 across layers, and bending strength from 72 to 33 MPa. That is one of the widest in-plane-to-Z gaps of any material we stock. A part loaded across its layers has less than half the strength — orient it properly or it will fail well below what the headline figures suggest.

Cooling fan on. Bambu specify it for this material, unlike plain ASA where it's 0–80%.

Ventilate. Styrene while printing, as with all ASA and ABS.

Storage

Bambu specifies under 20% RH, sealed with desiccant, and 80°C for 8 hours to dry.

Water absorption is lower than plain ASA at 0.33%, but carbon-filled filaments show moisture damage in the surface finish first — and finish is usually why you picked this material.
