Glass-fibre reinforced Nylon 6 — the value entry into serious engineering materials. It gives you high strength, high stiffness and 158°C heat resistance for meaningfully less than the carbon-fibre nylons, and it's the only one of the three available in colours rather than just black.

Good for jigs, fixtures, brackets and housings where you need real mechanical performance but don't need to pay for carbon fibre.

Enclosure, hardened nozzle, and no AMS Lite. 45–60°C chamber, which rules out the open-frame A-series. Glass fibre is every bit as abrasive as carbon — Bambu specify a hardened steel or tungsten carbide nozzle with 0.6mm recommended. 0.2mm is not supported, and the 0.4mm high-flow nozzle is not advised.

PA6-GF is the cost-effective option and the only one with a colour choice. The trade is toughness: at 7.2 kJ/m² notched it is the most brittle of the three, so it suits parts that are loaded steadily rather than knocked.

Two things to design around

Water absorption is 2.56% — the highest of anything we stock. In Singapore's humidity an open spool takes on moisture fast, and the published figures only hold in the dry state. Dry it at 80°C for 8–12 hours immediately before printing and feed from a sealed dry box.

Layer bonding is the weakest of the three nylons. Tensile drops from 75 MPa in plane to 27 MPa across layers — about a third — and impact in Z falls to 4.1 kJ/m². A part loaded across its layers has nothing like the strength the headline figure suggests. Orientation is not optional with this material.

Printing it well

Glue stick on a Smooth PEI plate — that is Bambu's specific recommendation here. The Cool Plate SuperTack is not compatible.

Use Support for PA/PET — specified by Bambu for this material.

Annealing: 80–130°C for 6 to 12 hours, endorsed and worthwhile on this material.

Storage

Bambu specifies under 20% RH, sealed with desiccant, and 80°C for 8–12 hours to dry. If the finished part will live somewhere humid, Bambu suggest a dense coating or wax seal to keep moisture out.
