Bambu Lab PC FR Filament 1.75mm 1kg
Flame-retardant polycarbonate, carrying a UL94 V-0 classification — Bambu's top flame-retardant rating. Where standard PC is merely self-extinguishing, PC FR is formulated and certified for it, which is the distinction that matters when a part goes inside electrical equipment, a control cabinet or a vehicle.
Bambu's stated applications are industrial components, protective casings and high-temperature environments in automotive, electronics and manufacturing.
Enclosure required, and no AMS Lite. 45–60°C chamber and a 90–110°C bed, same as standard PC. Not compatible with the open-frame A-series.

PC FR against standard PC
Impact resistance is much better — 55 kJ/m² against standard PC's 34.8. Adding the flame-retardant package has made this the tougher of the two on the unnotched figure, which is not what you'd usually expect.
Strength and heat are slightly lower but close — tensile 60 MPa against 62, heat deflection 108°C against 117°C. In most applications you would not notice the difference.
It is less stiff and less stretchy — 1670 MPa against 2110, and breaking elongation 2.4% against 3.8%. Parts flex a little more but crack sooner once they start to go.
It also picks up half as much water: 0.12% against 0.25%.
The number to design around
Layer bonding is this material's weak point, badly. Tensile strength across layers is 21 MPa against 60 in plane — roughly a third. Bending strength halves, 47 against 90. That Z-direction gap is one of the widest of anything we stock.
For a casing or bracket, orient so that load and impact run along the layers, never across them. A part designed on the 60 MPa figure but printed in the wrong orientation will fail at around a third of the expected load.
Printing it well
Glue is required, on a Smooth or Textured PEI plate. The Cool Plate SuperTack is not compatible.
Annealing is endorsed here, unlike most of our range: 85–100°C for 6 to 12 hours. Larger parts may still distort, so test first.
Turn supports on, ventilate the room, and note printed parts are not food-contact grade.
On certification: Bambu rate this material UL94 V-0 and supply the certificate in the downloads on this page. If your application needs a rating recognised by a particular standards body, check that certificate against your requirement before committing — we can send it over ahead of purchase if that helps.
Storage
Bambu specifies under 20% RH, sealed with desiccant, and 80°C for 8 hours to dry.
